Road Trip!
I'm marking June 1st as my first destination. Thirty seven days - just 37 days. Marked off like mileposts on the Al-Can Highway. I'm thinking I will map out my route to better health. Make sense to you? I knew that it would. After all, who goes on a road trip without a map? I think you can do anything for 37 days if you do it one day (mile) at a time. A road trip sounds like a lot more fun than dieting. Hey, I'm willing to talk myself into anything at this point. So, here we go. This is where I get to say "Start Your Engines!" Cool.
Just for today I will put myself at the top of my list, everything and everyone else will come second - and even then only if it works with my plan for today. I will follow my map - a diet plan that calls for healthy, low carb, low calorie eating. Like changing your car from gasoline to, say, solar energy - good for everyone involved. And as a result of the new fuel source, your body runs more efficiently and your engine enjoys a longer life - you get more miles outta you, so to speak . . well, you know the analogy I'm going for here, we don't have to get into worn out tires, sagging springs, etc., do we?
Just for today, Just . . . for . . . today. I will control the outside influences that bring a train wreck, that de-rail my plan every single time and maneuver me into a situation where unplanned calories await, patiently, patiently. Knowing I'll choose them over self-control, knowing I always do . . . Where food and drink take me off track once again and I get lost in the delusion that it's okay, life happens. But you see, I know the truth. Ah yes, I do know. You can be in control, you can get out your map and see where you're headed and how to get there. I'm deceiving myself when I let go and think otherwise.
Just for today I will work hard on improving myself. I will keep this darn car (truck? train? OMG balloon?) on the road and reach my first milepost. I will. Today I will weigh in at the gym, then again on Monday and again next Friday and so on until I've reached my goal. It's going to be an interesting trip, no telling what scenic byways are up ahead - the one thing I hope we do not run into is detours, I just do not want to get stuck in a detour around and about and take the long way to the next milepost, know what I mean? Detours and flat tires, a fat girl's nightmares (hey, that rhymes, how cool is that?) either one of which can immediately spoil your road trip fun. Okay, now that we've decided none of those, I'm gonna hit the road. BTW Has anyone got an AAA card? Come on, cough it up . . . you know sooner or later we're going to need it . . .oh, and a credit card might be handy too . . . just in case, you know, incidentals.
Action Item: Allow yourself to move [guilt-free] to the top of your To Do list. Map out your goal and Just for Today drive that road like you mean it! Sleep Well, Tomorrow will keep. And when tomorrow becomes today, get out your map and get back on the road.

One very excellent reason to stay on the road - clothes. Moving means packing everything but what I will wear for 3 months of summer, it would be a lot more fun if I could fit into those darn shrinking summer clothes - how do they shrink in winter storage? Sheesh and double Sheesh.
Great subject. I am glad i found your blog. Would you mind sometime maybe adding an
article to my website so that others may read this too? I think that my visitors would really enjoy the stuff i found here. Thanks and I will visit often.
